I watched this movie with my mom back in 1950s and it made such an impression on me. I am more interested in the true story now, but it seems that the original book (written by Anna Maria Rose Wright / Anna Perrott Rose) is difficult to find at best. She is fast becoming my favorite raconteur of the creepy and fun tale. The two stars have an easy chemistry and are believable as a couple in love, and the child actors are all adorable.
